The aim of the Pro Bono Legal Clinic is to contribute to the development of students' professional knowledge, skills, and values by providing free access to legal services for individuals who have difficulty accessing justice and by enabling students who take the course at MEF University Law School to participate in the pursuit and resolution of cases for the public benefit. Lawyers designated by the Istanbul Bar Association from among those volunteering for pro bono work are paired with students participating in the MEF University Pro Bono Legal Clinic to jointly follow up on pro bono case and advisory files. In addition, students also work as assistant mediators alongside and under the supervision of volunteer mediators directed by the Istanbul Bar Association. The services and activities provided by the MEF University Pro Bono Legal Clinic primarily cover fields related to human rights, women's rights, children's rights, rights of persons with disabilities, animal rights, consumer rights, etc. Legal processes of applications accepted by the clinic are carried out voluntarily and in accordance with the rules of legal profession, with no intention of financial gain. Students participating in these activities within the clinic structure carry out their work under the framework of the Legal Clinic course, which is an elective course with 2 ECTS credits.
