How to Practise Versant at Home
Part A: Read Aloud
In Part A, you will read two paragraphs aloud. Each paragraph is 60 to 70 words in length. You have thirty seconds to read each paragraph.
Instructions
● Choose a text that is at least 70 words long.
● Set a timer for 30 seconds.
● Start the timer and read the text aloud.
Don’t worry about the meaning of the text. It is more important to speak clearly with rhythm than it is to speak quickly.

Part B: Repeats
In this section, you will repeat the sentences verbatim. The sentences will become more difficult as you progress. Sentences will be 3 to 15 words in length.

● Choose a film or video in English that has English subtitles
● With the subtitles off, listen to a sentence and repeat the sentence.
● Turn on the English subtitles and check your answer

Part C: Sentence Builds
In part C, you will hear three short phrases. You will rearrange the phrases and say a complete, grammatically correct sentence or question.

Use these scrambled sentence exercises. You can choose any of the exercises. Build the sentence orally, and then check the order digitally.

Part D: Conversations
In this part, you will hear a short conversation between two people. The conversations are usually three sentences. Immediately after this, you will hear a comprehension question. Answer the question by saying a short word or phrase.
For example,
Speaker 1: Congratulations on graduating! Speaker 2: Thanks it was a lot of work.
Speaker 1: I know. You deserve a party.
Question: Why does the man deserve a party? You say: Because he graduated.

Part E: Typing
In part E, you will see a reading paragraph of about 90 to 100 words at the top of the screen. You will have 60 seconds to type exactly what you see. This section is not graded. In parts F to I, you will need to write your responses. Part E serves has baseline for responses.

Part F: Sentence Completion
In this part, you will see a sentence with a missing word. You have 25 seconds to complete the sentence with an appropriate word.
For example,
Her favorite hobby is . She has so many books. He arrives and is often the first one here.

Part G: Dictation
In this section, you will hear a sentence, then you must write exactly what you hear. You have 25 seconds to write the sentence. The sentences get more difficult as you go along. Sentences range from 3 to 14 words.

Part H: Passage Reconstruction
In part H, you have 30 seconds to read a short passage consisting of 45 to 65 words. After 30 seconds, the text will disappear. You then have 90 seconds to write what you can remember from the text.
