Biography
Ayfer Uyanık completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Germany. She began her legal education at the University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln) Faculty of Law and completed it at Istanbul University Faculty of Law. Uyanık conducted researches at the Institute for International and Foreign Private Law (Institut für internationales und ausländisches Privatrecht) at the University of Cologne for her master's thesis on “Jurisdiction Agreements in International Procedural Law” and her doctoral thesis on “Factoring and International Factoring Contracts”. She earned her master's degree in 1994 and her Ph.D. degree in 2000 from Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences. Uyanık was awarded the title of associate professor in 2007 and professor in 2016.
Between 2010 and 2016, Uyanık served at the Private International Law Department at Koç University Faculty of Law. Between 2008 and 2010, she worked as an associate professor at the Private International Law Department at Maltepe University Faculty of Law, and between 2000 and 2006, she was an assistant professor at the Private International Law Department at Çağ University Faculty of Law. From 1992 to 2000, she worked as a research assistant at the Private International Law Department at Istanbul University.
Uyanık has taught courses in undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs on various topics including Private International Law (Conflict of Laws, Nationality Law, Law of Foreigners, and International Procedural Law), Family Law, Child Law, Refugee Law, Foreign Investment Law, Drafting of Foreign Commercial Contracts and Dispute Resolution, International Factoring Contracts, Health Tourism Law, International Medical Law, and Human Rights and Medicine. She is the author of the works “Factoring and Especially Factoring Contracts in Private International Law,” “Divorce in Turkish Private International Law,” and “Health Tourism Law.” Additionally, she has been a co-author of the book Conflict of Laws in Private International Law by Prof. Dr. Gülören Tekinalp since its 10th edition.
Uyanık is a member of the Board of Directors of the Family Law Association, a member of the Ministry of Health’s Health Tourism Coordination Board Legislation and Accreditation Commission, and a member of the TÜSEB Health Services Quality and Accreditation Institute (TÜSKA) Health Tourism Accreditation Standards Working Group.
