Biography
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fevzi Ünal was employed in the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Istanbul Technical University (ITU) from 1985 to 2014. Between 1986 and 1988, he also served as a consultant at the TUBITAK Marmara Research Center. As a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science scholar, he conducted research in experimental and numerical aerodynamics at Yokohama National University, Japan, during 1995-96; and as a Fulbright scholar at Lehigh University, Pennsylvania, USA, during 1996-97. From 1989 to 1998, he carried out joint research projects with the Department of Aeronautics at the Imperial College of Science and Technology. He has published numerous national and international research project results in the fields of Experimental and Computational Fluid Mechanics/Aerodynamics, Flapping Wing Aerodynamics, and Flow-Induced Vibrations in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Physics of Fluids, Experiments in Fluids, Journal of Fluids and Structures, AIAA Journal, Journal of Aircraft, Theoretical and Computational Fluid Dynamics. He served as the Head of the Aeronautical Engineering Department at ITU from 1994 to 2002, Dean of the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics at ITU for two terms from 2004 to 2010, and ITU Vice Rector in charge of research from 2010 to 2012. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fevzi Ünal, who also served as the Vice Rector in charge of research at MEF University from 2014 to 2023, has been the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at MEF University since 2014.
