Dr. Gökçe Tönük worked as an engineer in a private company providing services on geotechnical projects on site investigation, design of retaining structures, landslide monitoring and prevention, etc. between 1998 and 2003 (part-time between 2001-2003). Between 2004 and 2014, she worked as a researcher for the duration of her doctoral studies, and as a postdoctoral researcher after receiving her doctoral degree, in EU Framework Projects (Lessloss, UrbanQuake, Series, SciNetNatHaz) at Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, Department of Earthquake Engineering. In 2010, she was a short-term visiting researcher at Tohoku Gakuin University, Japan. Gökçe Tönük joined MEF University Civil Engineering Department as a founding faculty member in March 2014. Dr. Gökçe Tönük is a member of the Chamber of Civil Engineers as well as the European Earthquake Engineering Association. In addition, she serves as Secretary Member on the Board of Directors of the Turkish Earthquake Foundation's Earthquake Engineering Committee. She is one of the founders of GeoIst, a company that provides consultancy services on Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering.
