Biography
Prof. Dr. Can Fuat Delale received his bachelor's degree from Istanbul Technical University, his master's degree from Lehigh University in the USA, and his Ph.D. from Brown University, also in the USA. Professor Delale has worked as a faculty member at Boğaziçi, Bilkent, Istanbul, Istanbul Technical, and Işık Universities, as well as a senior researcher at TÜBİTAK's Institute for Basic Sciences (Feza Gürsey Institute) . Additionally, he has served as a visiting lecturer and researcher at the University of Tokyo in Japan, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Max Planck Institut fÜr Strömungsforchung in Göttingen, and Technical University of Munich in Germany, Cambridge University in the UK, Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, and California Institute of Technology, City College of New York and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the USA.
His research and development projects include Gas Dynamics in Condensation, Homogeneous Nucleation Theory of Bubbles, Hydrodynamic Cavitation, Design and Cavitation Optimization of Liquid-Fueled Turbopumps, Optimization of Cavitation in Centrifugal Pumps and Unsteady Cavitating Flows. In 1995, Professor Delale was elected as an associate member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), and in 2013, he became a full member of the Science Academy (BA). He is a member of the American Physical Society and the European Mechanics Society and is a recipient of the 1991 TÜBİTAK Incentive Prize and the 1984 Sedat Simavi Science Prize. In 2019 he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Turkish National Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Since September 2014, Prof. Dr. Can Fuat Delale has been serving as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MEF University. He is the author of the book Bubble Dynamics and Shock Waves.
